Mexico City.- In a Mexican Air Force plane, a group of rescuers from the Army, the Navy and Civil Protection will travel to Turkey tonight to join the efforts of that country to rescue survivors from the rubble caused by the registered earthquakes.

Among the staff are canine pairs with dogs specialized in the search for living people and bodies, as well as experts in rescuing people.

“The purpose of this team is to assist in the rescue efforts headed by the authorities of both Turkey and, in this case, Syria, to help them, contribute to saving lives, and protect the lives of those who are injured,” said Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard. .

In addition to the military personnel, who are carrying specialized equipment, as well as shovels and wheelbarrows, a group from the Mexican Red Cross is also traveling.

“A team of well-equipped, well-trained specialists has been prepared, whose purpose is to travel from tonight to arrive in Turkey as soon as possible and be able to travel to the place of events, towards the epicenter of the 7.8 Richter earthquake that suffered that country and that also affected the northern region of Syria, the border region between Syria and Turkey,” Ebrard said.

This support, the Foreign Minister assured, is made as part of the Mexican Government’s tradition of solidarity and support for other peoples, as well as in reciprocity for the international support provided to Mexico in the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.
