The 40 migrants murdered inside a prison in Ciudad Juárez, 44 days ago, have become an anecdote with Alzheimer’s. This is how President López Obrador must have thought yesterday during the conversation he had with Joe Biden.

Happy, both, agreed that Mexico will continue to be the US migratory backyard. Undocumented migrants will be expelled to Mexico as if this country had the capacity to keep them alive.

For the Mexican president, his migration strategy has a “humanist dimension” component.

Describing the miserable and cruel treatment that the 40 migrants received as “humanist” cannot have a polysemic nature: Is it a joke or an insult to the 40 families of the fatalities?

There is no doubt: it is an insult.

The Government of El Salvador asked if after the tragedy there would be a sanction for those responsible for the crimes. There will be saplings to plant, just in case. They must have responded.

The president of Mexico does not have time to dedicate to this type of tragedies. If anything, he uses migrants as tokens to trade with Joe Biden. His thing, what he enjoys about him, are his press conferences where he dictates his wishes and describes his country.

It’s been 44 days now and no top-level official has resigned. Nor will they.

Excelsior was the only Mexican newspaper that put faces to the dead in Ciudad Juárez. On the front page of the April 10 issue, we met the faces of 38 of them.

For example, we saw the photograph of Miguel Rojché Zapalu. In a note by journalist Andrés Becerril, he describes Rojché as originally from San Pedro Cutzán, department of Suchitepéquez, Guatemala.

“One day Miguel arrived and told us (his family) that he wanted to go to the United States; So we told him what was he going to do there; even if it was the little he was earning, he could be here -he earned 95 quetzales a day, equivalent to about 220 Mexican pesos- and he said: “no, I already decided because my daughters (…) I would like my daughters to have a degree ”.

These words were mentioned by Sonia Petrona Rojché Petzey, Miguel’s first cousin, to Andrés Becerril.

Biden and AMLO are jointly responsible for what happened in Ciudad Juárez.

But on Tuesday, in the interaction between Biden and AMLO, Mexico endorsed what Marcelo Ebrard offered Mike Pompeo on November 15, 2018: submission.

For humanitarian reasons, Mexico should not receive migrants because it cannot guarantee their safety. But they are gambling chips from a casino. This is how Donald Trump sees them.

This is how Joe Biden and AMLO see them.

“Everyone leaves out of necessity, everyone knows that. One is suffering here. He did not leave just because he wanted to leave, because he was going to suffer; they do know how hard the road is, obviously it is out of necessity”.

These are the words of Patricia, widow of Roberto Antonio Henríquez, one of the migrants murdered in the Ciudad Juárez prison.

Today the application of Title 42 concludes, but the migratory flows will continue.

The public non-policy on migration of President López Obrador will also continue, that is, what will be recognized as Migratory Backyard 15N: Ebrard’s gift to Pompeo on November 15, 2018.

Juan Rulfo brought to his literary work the tragedy of migration. In the story Paso del Norte, a dialogic story between a father and a son. Similar story among the victims of Ciudad Juárez. 40 dead.
