From the government of the president Donald Trump (2017-2021), Mexico accepts migrants expelled from the United States into its territory, and even sends them back to their countries. It also allows them to manage asylum requests from border cities.

“”Since we have very good relations with everyone, we have agreements and we can, from Mexico, send migrants to any country (…) We are helping to ensure that it is accepted in countries where they (the United States) do not have a good relationship , that they can take deportation measures,” said Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“That the deportees arrive directly to their countries. This, even, requires more attention, care for human rights,” according to the Mexican president.

López Obrador mentioned in particular the cases of Cuba y Venezuela.
