Mexico was seeded in Group B of the 2023 Gold Cup along with Haiti, Honduras and Qatar after the draw held on Friday,

The Mexican team, now led by Argentine Diego Cocca, will seek revenge after being runner-up in the last edition. Mexico lost the final to the United States.

Cocca took over from his compatriot Gerardo Martino, who led Mexico to its worst participation in a World Cup since Argentina 78.

Cocca made his debut in office with a win against Suriname and a draw at the Azteca stadium against Jamaica in which the team left booed.

Haiti and Honduras are familiar enemies for the Mexican team, while Qatar, host of the last World Cup, was invited for the second consecutive edition to the Gold Cup.

In the last edition, the Qatari team reached the semifinals, which they lost to the United States.

The Gold Cup will take place from June 26 to July 16 on courts in the United States.

In case of advancing to the next round, the Mexicans will have teams from Group C as rivals, which is made up of Costa Rica together with Panama, El Salvador, as well as a country from the qualifiers.

In Group A are located the United States, Jamaica, Nicaragua, as well as a team that will come out of the playoffs. In D, Canada, Guatemala, Cuba and another country that comes from the classification.
