Before the second leg of the quarter-finals in the Champions League, little calm returned to FC Bayern. On the one hand, after the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, there was a public discussion as to whether Yann Sommer could have saved the goal to make it 0-1. On the other hand, the dispute between Sadio Mané and Leroy Sané caused a stir.
The Senegalese striker gave Sané a big lip after a heated exchange of words after the first leg. FC Bayern then suspended Mané for the Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim (1-1) and fined him. According to “Bild” this should be 350,000 euros. It would be the highest fine a Bayern player has to pay in club history.

Because of this incident, but also because the Bayern managers are not satisfied with Mané’s performance since his move in the summer, he is now considered a candidate for sale. By leaving the right foot, Bayern would receive a fee and save Mané’s salary of around 22 million euros. The only open question is whether a club would be willing to pay the Senegalese a similar amount, otherwise he would probably not agree to a change.

According to “Sportbild”, Serge Gnabry should also be a sales candidate for Bayern and has been for a long time. Although the 27-year-old still has a contract until 2026, those responsible should be prepared to hand over the German international. With a market value of 55 million euros, the German record champions could then take another high transfer fee.
Gnabry’s statistics for the current season are not bad to read, after all he has 23 goals in 41 competitive games across all competitions. However, in the 2023 calendar year he played more than one half of a total of 18 competitive games in just six games – too little for Gnabry. The attacker had contributed to winning the triple with outstanding performances in 2019/20.

Whether Gnabry should finally be sold will be determined at a meeting in around six weeks. According to “Sportbild”, coach Thomas Tuchel will then sit down with the Bayern management and discuss the squad for the coming season.
