Out of five songs sung, I only knew two, the others were outside the scope of my revisions.

Do you remember a particular moment from your duel with Kristofer?

Yes, the first match. It was great, I have excellent memories of it. We both make our points, there was a great bond on the set.

How did you react when you knew you were going to be facing Kristofer?

Happy, because we were together at the maestros tournament in April. I knew he was a very, very good competitor, he has a larger range of songs than mine: so I told myself that in any case I had nothing to lose, at worst, everything to gain! He brings a mood that is quite good on the set: we don’t get bored with Kristofer, it’s quite cool to be next to him on the set.

“I’m going there to have fun…” : Micka cash on his chances in this competition

Aren’t you too disappointed to have lost?

I had an incredible journey: in 2019, I didn’t think I would make it to the Masters. Every year, it’s a bit of a bonus, I come back, I have fun. I win so much the better, I lose, it doesn’t matter.

Do you still have this desire to win?

I can’t say the opposite, but we’re not going there to win at all costs: we’ve already won so much in our respective careers. I am lower ranked than the others, but I want to do as well. I know I will never win the Masters, so I don’t have any particular stress. I go there to have fun.

In an interview you sometimes regretted underestimating yourself during matches, have you been able to gain more confidence in yourself this year?

I regained my confidence this year. I tried to consolidate my knowledge so that on the big day, if I know the song, I know it perfectly.

So as not to have regrets?

That’s mostly it. In previous years, I fell on songs that I knew by heart, because I was losing all my resources, I wanted to minimize this hazard.

It worked ? Did you feel better about this edition?

Yes, on set, what I had revised was acquired. I felt much better on set.

Did you fear a Maestro?

I fear them all! I’m in my 4th Masters, I played against Margaux as well as against people less well ranked than me, so I faced the whole panel and we realize that each match is very difficult, that it is played at details. A little stress is enough to make me lose or make my opponent lose.

There are several meetings where you play for associations. Are there more at stake in this Masters competition?

No, the biggest challenge is to earn money for associations. We tell ourselves that we may have lives at stake in our hands, because the associations are waiting for money to come in to be able to help certain people… then we realize that at the end of our microphone we have a very important stake. complicated: if we lose, they have nothing.

“Last year, I said to myself…” : this big decision that Micka took to Do not forget the lyrics

These are the other competitions (The Maestros Tournament and The Maestros League) for which you may have more stress…

Yes. The Masters, we play for ourselves: we win, so much the better, we don’t win, we don’t lose anything. It’s really playing for associations which puts even more pressure.

Since your first participation, have you changed your way of learning and revising?

I tried things and ultimately, my initial method suits me very well. I started by learning by heart, I tried for a year or two by listening, I saw that it wasn’t useful to me. I went back to rote. Last year, I told myself that I wouldn’t learn any more new songs, from now on, I’ll review the ones I know.

Are you no longer recording new songs?

No. Today, I have a panel of 800 songs acquired, well, it is never acquired because there are always small readjustments to be made! To get to work, I have an hour and a half drive, I still listen to new songs to add a little, but I wouldn’t know them by heart. They can be used to make 20 points or 30 points, no more.

Do you manage to reconcile this with your life by continuing to listen and maintain what you have learned?

It still encroaches to be honest. Today, I am at 5 hours of daily revisions.

Do you still enjoy revising as much?

Yes, it’s music! It’s nice to listen to music, to sing.

You had a business creation project, where is it?

I put it aside. Since I left the plateau in 2019, I have found a job that I like as a subcontractor for the French Navy, and for the moment, given the circumstances linked to Covid and inflation, today it is It is perilous to embark on a business creation project. I have a job that gives me a living and I enjoy this profession. It remains in the back of my mind, but for the moment, it is no longer on the agenda.
