Microsoft is now making its premium extension for teams available as a preview. It’s a free trial, but according to the provider, the add-on will cost $10 a month per user. Teams administrators can activate the preview centrally, after which they receive 30-day limited licenses for their users.

In the announcement, Microsoft emphasizes the many additional functions available to users with Premium. Most are tailored for meetings and corporate use. That’s it the associated support document also shows that the features previously included in the standard license are moving behind the payment barrier:

  • Real-time translations and subtitles generated from them
  • Marks in recordings when users join and leave a meeting
  • Customized Together Mode Scenes
  • virtual appointments: SMS notifications for the calendar
  • virtual appointments: Analysis of meetings in the Teams Admin Center
  • virtual appointments: queue view

The virtual appointments are not regular video conferences, but Microsoft’s business-to-customer platform in teams. Anyone who relies on one or more of these features should be given 30 days after the general availability of Premium before they are discontinued.

The Redmond company had already shown many of the completely new premium features at the Ignite. This includes end-to-end encryption of all meetings with up to 50 participants and an AI assistant that should be able to automatically assign tasks that have been worked out in a conference.
