Defender Sergiño Dest, who has played very few minutes at AC Milan in the last three months, was the only player from a European club to be called up by interim coach Anthony Hudson for the exhibition match that the United States will play against Mexico on the 19th April in Glendale, Arizona.

Four inexperienced players from the United States team were called up for the friendly on Wednesday: defenders Caleb Wiley and Joshua Wynder along with goalkeepers Drake Callender and Roman Celentano. The goalkeepers will be the substitutes for Sean Johnson, one of the 10 players on the list of 23 who was at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The friendly will be played outside of a FIFA date, so the clubs do not have the obligation to release their players.

Apart from Dest, without playing for Milan since January 24, the other player who plays abroad is midfielder Alan Soñora, from Mexico’s Juárez.

The American Soccer Federation confirmed that winger Alejandro Zendejas did not receive permission from América de México.

In addition to Dest and Johnson, the others who attended the World Cup are defenders Aaron Long, Shaq Moore, DeAndre Yedlin and Walker Zimmerman; midfielders Kellyn Acosta and Cristian Roldán; and forwards Jesús Ferreira and Jordan Morris.

It will be the 75th clash between the nations. Mexico dominates with 36 wins and 16 draws.

The United States and Mexico, in their best clothes, will meet on June 15 in Las Vegas for the semifinals of the CONCACAF Nations League.
