Milena Warthon conquered the audience at Quinta Vergara with her song “warmisitay” in the ‘Folkloric Competition’ category at the Viña del Mar Festival 2023. The title of the song is a word in Quechua that in Spanish means “My little woman”.

Through her social networks and in all her interviews, Milena Warthon proudly recounted that “warmisitay” is a song composed in honor of his grandmother Teresa Varela. She “she is one of the sweetest women I know”. According to what she said, hers ‘Teresita’s grandmother’ was the one who taught her a carnival from the Abanquino called Puka Polleracha (“little red skirt” in Spanish).

“I imagined my grandmother in the carnival with her red costume of a beautiful abanquina and I began to compose. Today, that song is reality, ”said the young singer shortly before premiering her new musical theme, which she without imagining ended up taking to the Quinta Vergara stage.

In addition to embracing her abanquino origin, Milena highlighted that the song “warmisitay” seeks to revalue the use of skirts and pay homage to the Andean woman. That is why the official video clip, released in 2022, was recorded in Yungay with the participation of 30 girls from the Patapata community.
