Minecraft’s update 1.20 has been casting its shadow for a long time. This year the time has finally come, which is why Mojang is now gradually preparing us for the innovations.

The company recently confirmed that the long-awaited archeology system that was announced back in 2020 will be coming to the game in 1.20. Now, the studio has also confirmed that a new biome – the cherry blossom biome – and the new creature, the Sniffer, are coming to the blocky, endless world in 1.20.

The Sniffer was voted by players as the next mob to join the game during the Minecraft Live event. The Sniffer’s Eggs, which must first be hatched, can be found using the new archeology tools. The Sniffer not only looks funny, it sniffs out rare seeds for you.

The sniffer. I already love him.

Which brings us to the new biome: Mojang’s blog post also has the new Cherry Blossom biome in her luggage. The beautiful fluffy pink trees attract pigs, sheep and bees.

Chopping down these trees will use their wood to create a variety of pink wooden items, including the new Hanging Sign. If you want to beautify other biomes, just take some cherry seedlings with you and plant them there.

As for archaeology, you will use the new brush near temples in the sand to reveal exotic finds. These are random objects or fragments of ancient pottery. Four of these shards can then be put back together to form a complete pot, provided you have found the right individual parts. To do this, you have to pay attention to the patterns that can be seen on the finds, tell unique stories and “put decorative accents in your builds”.

Finally digging with sense: The archeology update.

Update 1.20 also includes camels and the bamboo raft, when exactly it will appear is not yet known.
