The Yanaquihua mining that operates in the region Arequipa confirmed the death of 27 workers and specified that they evacuated another 175, who are out of danger. He explained that the deceased people belonged to a contracting company specializing in mining services.
“We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of our deceased brothers and guarantee our full cooperation and support in this tragic and painful moment,” the company said in a statement.
In addition, the mine indicated that all urgent and necessary measures are being taken to investigate the safety of workers.
“We appreciate the cooperation that the regional and police authorities have been offering us and we make ourselves available for any investigation that may be necessary.”
