MIAMI.- The model Ecuadorian Mara Topic, Miss Universe Ecuador 2024has revealed that he suffers from a rare autoimmune disorder called syndrome Hashimoto’s disease, which has caused her to lose her hair so she must wear wigs in beauty pageants.
The 29-year-old miss addressed her condition to raise awareness about this pathology.

“Your immune system is constantly attacking you. There are people who look different, there are people who can’t get out of bed, others have high levels of stress and can’t do physical activities, others have super dry skin, etc. “It’s reflected in my hair loss, but not in others,” he commented.
The model also highlighted that, on the recommendation of her doctor, she wears a wig to avoid damaging the scalp.
“It’s a progressive disease, but we’re trying to improve. That’s why my doctor told me ‘Mara, why don’t you wear a wig, so that the little hair we’re recovering doesn’t get damaged.'”
The suggestion was taken. And, although her condition has forced her to see important changes in her life, it has not been a limitation in pursuing the Miss Universe crown.
