Dusseldorf.
If the federal government clarifies the open points, the 49-euro ticket will be quick, according to the NRW transport minister. The passenger association continues to see problems.

The chairman of the conference of transport ministers, North Rhine-Westphalia’s head of department Oliver Krischer (Greens), sees the federal government on the train when it comes to implementing the 49-euro ticket. Working groups on the Deutschlandticket met all over the country, and everyone wanted the fastest possible introduction, Krischer told the “Rheinische Post” in Düsseldorf on Wednesday. If the federal government clarifies the open points, the ticket will go very quickly.

Krischer told the newspaper that criticism by Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) on the actions of the federal states was in vain. “One should rather criticize the Federal Minister of Transport because important decision-making bases are still missing, such as the promised change to the regionalization law or the clarification of the question of tariff approval,” said the NRW Minister of Transport.

Passenger Association Pro Bahn calls for support from bus companies

The Pro Bahn passenger association is meanwhile demanding more support from bus companies in the implementation of the Deutschlandticket and the move away from a purely digital solution. “Anyone who wants a digital ticket must also create the technical requirements in the buses and trains,” said the honorary chairman of the association, Karl-Peter Naumann, of the “Rheinische Post”. The technical implementation of the 49-euro ticket was much more difficult “than many had imagined,” he warned. The problems with the introduction are still great.

In some federal states, there were no corresponding systems in regional transport, for example to read chip cards, Naumann said. Small bus companies that take over school transport in rural areas are particularly affected. However, it is usually not possible to finance the equipment with new readers from own funds. “Financing must be secured through funding,” he demanded.

At the same time, the association representative emphasized that it was wrong to rely primarily on smartphones for digital tickets: “There must be a solution for people who don’t have one – for example with a paper ticket.” (dpa / epd)
