The players of Modern Warfare 2 have had several comments about the game lately, and it is that this title has taken great steps away from the traditional Call of Duty games that players know and love.

In addition to the continuation of Dead Silence as a field buff instead of a perk, the lack of red dots on the minimap, and the very different movement system from the old MW19 engine, the perk system received a major overhaul.

Now that “timed perks” are the norm in Modern Warfare 2, as players gain the next selected perk as they play, this change has received a lot of backlash to the new timed system. Yes ok Infinity Ward has announced changes yet again in Season 2, many players believe that it is simply not good enough.

“We considered changing the position [Ghost] of this perk, but we felt that this would create a serious imbalance in the perk system,” they said in the update blog. “For Season 02, we have updated the rate at which the bonus and final perks are earned… This adjustment will allow players to earn Ghost earlier in matches, which will better assist players looking to engage more aggressive”.

While this answers some of the complaints about how long it takes to get the Bonus and Ultimate benefits, some players have argued that it’s just not good enough.

For his part, one player named tjmobile1, in particular, received massive support from the player base when he took to Reddit to complain about the situation – “Huge L”, they called him. “Nobody wants timed advantages. Just accept it. This is the third time it has decreased. Listen to your community. It’s very disappointing.”

The post received around 1000 upvotes as of this writing and hundreds of comments, mostly in support of what tjmobile said. The responses weren’t very confident that Infinity Ward would really make such a big change to their new perks system, with the top comment saying, “If I know anything about IW it’s that they’ll never admit they’re wrong and would rather redouble their efforts.”

We don’t know everything that’s coming in Season 2 just yet, but it looks like Infinity Ward is staying true to their timed perks, or so it’s led us to think.
