In recent days, the former TV host has been in the news a lot since she revealed that she had vitiligo. “I developed my vitiligo 24 years ago, after the birth of my daughter. I am lucky that it only affects my hands”explained Nathalie Simon to our colleagues at France 3 Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur : “This disease is very little known, so people look at you, ask you what it is, if it’s contagious… It’s socially complicated! And when you’re on TV, obviously the way others look at it is very important”. Today, the host who still works on France 3 no longer intends to hide. Recently, something else has particularly affected Nathalie Simon: the death of her mother.

She was an extremely free woman. She was very committed to independence.”explains Nathalie Simon, before adding: “She raised all of us – but especially my sister and me – saying, ‘be independent my girls, be self-reliant’. I get a little goosebumps talking about this.. But she’s really someone I think of often and who continues to inspire me in my idea that a woman, a man, there is no gender and we live as we wish.”.

“She gave me this strength of character, this pioneering side. She was in May 68. She fought, she was a physiotherapist and she gave us that, this strength. She left us quite suddenly, but I was lucky to be by his side at that time, concludes the former host. Last June, Nathalie Simon posted a photo of her young mother on her social networks with a tender message to say goodbye to her. “It’s Mother’s Day and today we say goodbye to ours. Are we ever ready for this moment? Mom, you gave us a taste for boldness and independence (… ) You were always the most beautiful. Mom, you inspired me and you will continue”she wrote on Instagram.
