The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) continues to work on major road projects on a national scale. One of the projects is the construction of a peripheral in the eastern part of the country, an area of ​​the territory that previous administrations did not have the vision to bet on, but that this administration has prioritized, making development and mobility a reality.

Public Works has detailed that, according to data from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), for every $1 invested in the Gerardo Barrios peripheral, the country will benefit $8 due to the reduction in costs and transportation times of merchandise, This will generate an increase in exports and the level of employment, since hundreds of direct and indirect jobs are generated in the same work.

The construction of the first package of the peripheral consists of two main roundabouts in detours towards Moncagua and San Jorge, 10 paved accesses, 194 vehicular and pedestrian accesses and entrances to land and properties, six bus stops with their booths, each for three buses, three pedestrian walkways and 6.92 kilometers of cycle routes of 1.50 meters, 3.46 km on each side.
