More than 40 thousand Cubans have been approved with the Parole although thousands continue to use other ways to enter the US

The United States reported on Friday that more than 41,000 Cubans have been benefited with the humanitarian parole and that thousands are still trying to reach the US by other means, as revealed by the operating statistics of July 2023.

The Office of Customs and Border Protection of the United States (CBP, for its figures in English) certified that in the month of July 7,486 Cuban citizens they were registered by the border authorities of the different entry points to that country. With this figure, it amounts to 171,958 the number of Cubans detected in fiscal period 2023.

A CBP statement ensures that the parole processes for the citizens of Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua announced by President Joe Biden on January 5, 2023 have significantly reduced irregular migration and have denied smugglers the opportunity to exploit nearly 160,000 people which, instead, have benefited from the expansion of safe, orderly and humane roads.

This federal agency reports that as of the end of July 2023, more than 181,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans they had arrived legally under probation processes.

“This number includes more than 41,000 Cubansmore than 72,000 Haitians, more than 34,000 Nicaraguans and more than 63,000 Venezuelans who have been examined and authorized to travel,” the information states.

It also adds that, through this route, more than 39,000 Cubans, more than 60,000 Haitians, close to 27,000 Nicaraguans and more than 55,000 Venezuelans have already reached US territory.”

Operational statistics for July show that encounters along the Southwest border were lower than they were in July 2022, and Border Patrol encounters remain lower than during the months leading up to the Title 42 end.

“We continue to be vigilant and adjust our operational plans to maximize enforcement efforts against those who do not use legal avenues or process, knowing that smugglers continue to use misinformation to take advantage of vulnerable individuals,” Officer Troy A. Miller said.

“Every day, the men and women of CBP are rescuing and providing aid to people sent into danger by callous smugglers, while at the same time increasing seizures of dangerous drugs and processing large volumes of summer travelers,” he said.
