In Yucatan 93 percent of the people who start working in bilingual jobs remain in their jobs, representing one of the lowest levels of turnover at the national level, highlighted the Undersecretary of Labor of the Sefoet, Irais Baron Zermeño.

The state official recalled that last December a Bilingual Job Fair in which companies such as Accenture, Kwan, WebHelp, Agile Thought and Blue Oceanwhich offered around 670 job vacancies, most of which are still filled.

He pointed out that this is due to the fact that young people and adults with Mastery of English can access better paid jobs, with work-at-home mode and benefits higher than those established by law, which makes them generate a career in the job for which they are hired.

Barón Zermeño added that the remaining seven percent of workers who decides to leave the job for which they were hired is not because they lose interest in the area in which they work, but there is also a dynamic similar to talent theftin which other companies make counter offers for the featured workers, offering even higher salaries than they originally received.

The deputy director of Sefoet stressed the importance of the English Agenda promoted by the government of Yucatan to better prepare local human capital, before the establishment of foreign companies in the entity, which not only provide services in Mexico, but remotely to countries such as the United States, Canada, Colombia and Brazil.

He explained that the available vacancies require staff with a level of English known as B2, however, some companies are willing to accept people with a B1 level and train them to achieve the next level of certification.
