CDMX.- The national leadership of Morena met with governors emanating from their ranks to request an “even floor” in the treatment of presidential candidates who seek to contest in 2024.

According to Morenista sources, the petition was raised this morning with the leaders and their representatives, during a closed-door meeting, in the Juárez Room, of the Ministry of the Interior.

As reported, the national leader, Mario Delgado, delivered a letter to the state executives in which he detailed the approach, which seeks to guarantee fair conditions in the contest, in accordance with the times established internally and the current legal provisions.

“The main issue is that the national leadership asked for a level floor and equal treatment for the four corcholatas,” the source said.

“It was a pleasure to meet this morning with my dearest Secretary of the Interior and fellow governors, with whom we share the same objective: to consolidate the transformation of our country,” published Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo, president of the National Council of Morena.

The meeting took place in the midst of the public confrontation that has taken place, in recent weeks, between operators of the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, and Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, which has even reached the Attorney General’s Office the Republic (FGR).

Two of the presidential candidates were present at the morning meeting: Sheinbaum and the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, who served as host, in official facilities.

According to a publication by the Head of Government, the attendees included the Governors of Campeche, Colima, Guerrero and Tlaxcala, as well as the Governors of Chiapas, Nayarit, Puebla, Sonora, Tabasco and Veracruz.

The sources consulted reported that all the Morenista states were represented at the table, since the governors who could not attend sent someone on their behalf.

In addition to Delgado, the senator and general secretary of that party, Citlalli Hernández, participated.

On December 11, in Nuevo León, Chancellor Ebrard delivered a document to the national leader of Morena, in which he asked -among other things- to create “even ground” conditions in the search for the presidential candidacy.

Delgado responded publicly and promised to seek unity, through clear rules.

“Morena has the preference of the majority of Mexicans, the key to unity is that the participants have clear rules, have a level floor, have a fair game,” he said then.

However, after the appearance of hundreds of spectacular announcements in favor of Sheinbaum, morenistas close to Ebrard reproached the national leadership for not putting order.

In January, the Foreign Minister’s political team denounced Mexico City government officials before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for electoral crimes, attributing to them misuse of public resources and possible coercion.

In their complaint, they claimed the use of the “Pillars” CDMX Government program to promote Sheinbaum’s presidential aspiration.

From the National Palace, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador himself has called on those interested in the candidacy and his supporters to act carefully, to avoid any risk of sanctions from the electoral authorities.
