CDMX.- Ignacio Mier, coordinator of the Morena deputies, asked former President Felipe Calderón to explain to the people of Mexico the alleged protection he gave Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán during his government.

The Morenista considered that it is not necessary for the trial against the former Secretary of Public Security, Genaro García Luna, to conclude for the former federal president to give explanations about the accusations against him.

Mier indicated that facing the people of Mexico is a matter of public and political responsibility, since they have the right to know and organized crime does not act with official documents.

“Why are you waiting (for the trial against García Luna to conclude)? For him to present himself, to explain to the Mexicans and to say, that’s why I pointed out that, as they say in my town ‘you do it, but it’s good that You are, so come and explain to us. I am not a judge to issue any sentence, nor is God to forgive sins, but the people of Mexico have the right to know,” he said.

Yesterday, during the trial in New York against García Luna, the former Nayarit Attorney General, Edgar Veytia, said he knew, from hearsay, that the former President had given instructions to favor Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán , in the war he waged against the Beltrán Leyva.

The coordinator of Morena in San Lázaro ironized that just as Calderón thinks of everything, he gives his point of view on this issue that directly involves him.

“Well, if he is giving his opinion about everything, why doesn’t he come to give his opinion on a subject that directly involves him? Let him come to do it, what does it cost him? If he has given his opinion about everything, he thinks about health, education, of sports, of races, he throws himself into the pool, because why doesn’t he explain to the Mexicans? It’s what I want, well, I ask him, and if he does it, it’s something else,” he said.
