A young Moroccan fan died last night in Casablanca before an important game in the African Champions League. She suffered from discomfort near the stadium.
The second leg of the African Champions League quarter-final Raja Casablanca-Al-Ahly from Cairo generated so much excitement that it resulted in an unfortunate incident. Indeed, a supporter died while she was around the Mohamed V sports complex.
She is a 29-year-old supporter of the Raja Casablanca team. She suffered from discomfort near the stadium. She died in the hospital.
According to several Moroccan media, the authorities have opened an investigation under the supervision of the local prosecutor’s office. It must be said that the Moroccan media have denounced a “scandalous organization”. Several supporters were unable to access the stadium. And yet, they were provided with their access tickets. This caused clashes between supporters and the police when the stadium doors opened.

According to an AFP photographer, a general fight, marked in particular by throwing bottles, broke out in a gallery at the end of the meeting between rival gangs of Raja ultras. The latter had a hard time digesting the elimination of their team from the prestigious African competition against the Egyptian representative.
The police had to intervene in the stands to put an end to the clashes. Clashes then took place in the surrounding streets, according to witnesses. Violence is recurrent between groups of Moroccan supporters.
It should be recalled that the local authorities in Morocco had dissolved groups of ultras to fight against hooliganism following the death of two supporters at the beginning of 2016. They even prohibited any distinctive sign (slogans and banners) in the stadiums, before to authorize the presence of ultras again in March 2018.
While Morocco aspires to organize the CAN-2025, its image has just been tarnished by incidents which opposed the supporters of Raja Casablanca to the police, causing the death of a supporter who was around the stadium.
