Mortal Kombat 12 is no longer a secret, but the game is extremely low-key, until today. Ed Boon, creator of the license, has just thrown oil on the fire with some images.
Mortal Kombat at 30 years old. Three decades of gutting according to the rules (or not), bloody fights and Fatalies, each more gory than the next. A cult fighting game franchise, the best-selling in history, in front of Street Fighter, Guilty Gears and others Tekken. Since Mortal Kombat 9, the franchise has taken a serious boost to the point of literally dominating the genre. Mortal Kombat 11 is the ultimate example, a generous title, beautiful to die for and even equipped with a very solid single player mode. Now fans are waiting for only one thing, the sequel.
Mortal Kombat 12 has been teased
And the sequel should be coming soon. After months of rumors and multiple small pumps from one of the creators of the franchise, this dear Ed Boon, the game is finally official, or almost.
Mortal Kombat 12 is no longer an open secret since it was Warner’s PSG itself who spilled the beans voluntarily or not, during a speech. MK12 arrives and should even land this year. In the best of all worlds anyway.
That’s on paper, but in fact, the game doesn’t exist even though several very informed personalities, like Jeff Grubb, claim that it has been in development for several years already.
However, to everyone’s surprise, it’s once again good old Ed Boon who comes to play with the nerves of his fans by revealing a short teaser. If he doesn’t tell us it’s about Mortal Kombat 12it’s hard to think otherwise since the brief video caps off a lengthy thank-you sequence from the team to celebrate 30 years of the franchise.
An announcement in the coming weeks?
Unfortunately, we don’t see much except grains of sand falling into what seems to be an hourglass. Time is once again honored so, as in MK11 Besides. Coincidence? No, definitely not.
