An individual attempted to set fire to the Moussa Ibn Noçaïr mosque located in the commune of Mazagran in Mostaganem, this Saturday morning. Indeed, the incident caused great frustration among the inhabitants of the region, who denounced this act and gathered in front of the mosque since the morning to try to understand the reasons for the incident.
In detail, while going to the mosque in order to lead the Al fajr (dawn) prayer, the imam of the mosque noticed a smell of smoke. He then discovered flames at the entrance to the mosque which destroyed a large part of the carpet. It should be noted that these are the declarations of the sheikh granted to an Arabic-speaking media.
According to the imam’s revelations reported by the same media, the spark of the fire was near the gas pipe. Because of this, he quickly called the faithful in order to be able to put out the fire before the damage was greater. In the same vein, it should be noted that the direction of the mosque immediately informed the police and filed a complaint in this regard, in order to arrest the perpetrator of this attack.
Telmcen: an attacked imam takes his last breath
As we had indicated in our previous articles, this Thursday Imam Saïd Tamteri, who was the imam of the Ali ibn Abi Talib mosque in Maghnia, wilaya of Tlemcen, breathed his last after being stabbed Thursday, April 20 2023 by an individual suffering from psychological disorders.
In detail, the attack happened after afternoon prayers and the victim was immediately taken to hospital. Although she underwent surgery, her health deteriorated rapidly, and sadly Said Tamteri did not survive her injuries.
