MTA announces the reopening of 36 bathrooms in subway stations in NYC: here is the list

NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced plans to reopen more restrooms at subway stations in all five boroughs, starting Monday, July 3, on a rolling basis.

The MTA is seeking to reopen 36 restrooms at an additional 18 subway stations. The restrooms, one for men and one for women, will be open every day from 7 am to 7 pm, closing for one hour for cleaning from noon to 1 pm With these planned reopenings, the vast majority of restrooms within the system subway will be open to the public for Labor Day.

“The reopening of the restrooms is another way New York City Transit is providing relief for customers when they need to get out for a more comfortable subway experience,” said NYC Transit President Richard Davey. “These renovated and reopened restrooms, delivered by the Stations and Facilities divisions of our Subway Department, show that NYCT is committed to providing faster, safer and better service to customers throughout the subway system.”

Before reopening, the MTA used closures to perform necessary maintenance, including:

  • New motion activated faucets
  • New hand dryers, dispensers
  • New/Painted Privacy Panels
  • new lighting
  • tile grout
  • New signage reflecting hours of operations
  • paint ceiling
  • Deep cleaning efforts

Stations that will begin to reopen on a rolling basis on Monday, July 3 include:
