NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced its action plan Monday ahead of this week’s “Subway Series” game schedule between the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

The two teams will battle it out at Citi Field for this week’s matchup, with both games scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Fans can choose to leave the car at home and take the subway to the game, which the MTA anticipates, due to your service expansion announcement.

New York City Transit will be placing additional subway trains nearby that can be dispatched to the station quickly to handle the overflow crowd.

For Queens-bound service to Citi Field, line service will operate every 2-3 minutes between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm Five additional trains will operate for Manhattan-bound service at the end of each game.

The New York City Police Department and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department (MTAPD) will add additional officers on trains, platforms and stations along the 7 train line and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) at the Mets-Willets Point station before and after the game.

The MTA encourages New Yorkers to use the newest fare options that make travel affordable, such as capping fares with the MTA’s convenient new tap-and-go fare payment system, OMNY, as well as the discounted 20-ride Long Island Rail Road rush hour ticket.

“No matter where you are, every baseball fan is looking forward to the timeless Subway Series showdown between the Yankees and the Mets,” said NYC Transit President Richard Davey. “With a No. 7 train every two to three minutes, we all know that the fastest, most convenient, and cheapest way to get to the games is to use public transportation, and as we always do, we will provide the best service for customers to get there. to Citi Field.

New York City Subway and Buses

The Mets-Willets Point station is directly across from Citi Field on Roosevelt Avenue near 126 Street. Fans can always take the local or express train to reach Mets-Willets Point.

The Q48 bus stops at 126 St. and Roosevelt Avenue, right in front of Citi Field. Customers can use the real-time bus passenger tracking feature on the MYmta app before boarding.

Customers can use the MTA’s OMNY contactless fare payment system to get to the games. Every touch to and from Citi Field is one step closer to the “Lucky 13” feature where, starting on the 13th ride each week, each additional subway or bus ride is free for the remainder of that week.

Long Island Rail Road

The LIRR provides direct service to the Mets-Willets Point station throughout the season, including for the Subway series, just an 18-minute ride via Penn Station and Grand Central Madison. Citi Field is only 18 minutes from Great Neck and 28 minutes from Port Washington. Fans traveling from Long Island on other branches can reach Citi Field by changing at Woodside, just a seven-minute drive from the stadium.

Access-A-Ride

Access-A-Ride paratransit has a designated stop at Citi Field located at 41 Seaver Way (126 St and 37 Av), south of BullPen Gate in the passenger boarding area (second cut). Clients have ample shelter and a clear line of sight of 126 St from the BullPen Gate.
