Brendon Urie, singer of Panic! At The Disco, is going to be a father – and is therefore ending his career as a musician after the upcoming European tour.

This news came for the Panic! At The Disco is as surprising as it is shocking: After almost 20 years in the business, the US pop rock band is quitting after the upcoming European tour.

Singer Brendon Urie announced the end with the words “I will bring this chapter of my life to an end because I will soon be putting my focus and energy on my family”. “My wife Sarah and I are expecting a baby very soon! The prospect of becoming a father and seeing my wife become a mother is very exciting. I look forward to this next adventure.”

Single “High Hopes” was a smash hit

The Las Vegas group broke through in 2005 with the single I Write Sins Not Tragedies and accompanying debut album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, which went triple platinum in their home country. In Germany Panic! At The Disco is best known for her song “High Hopes”, which musically accompanied various clips for months in 2018 on the Sky TV channel – the single sold over 600,000 copies in Germany.

After all, the German fans still have three chances to say goodbye to Brendon Urie and his bandmates. After appointments in Munich and Hamburg, there is a final show in Cologne, the tickets for the interior and lower tier are already sold out. “It was a pleasure for us not only to share the stage with so many talented people, but also our time with you. I look forward to seeing everyone in Europe and the UK on one final journey together,” says Urie.
