BORG Egg presented its educational opportunities at the information afternoon.

Egg. As every year, the Egger Gymnasium opened the doors to the information afternoon to give those interested an insight into the diverse educational opportunities. Schoolchildren from the region, but also from the Rhine Valley, and their parents flocked to the school in large numbers.

Various possibilities

Director Ariel Lang and administrator Norbert Willi welcomed the guests in the foyer and handed them over to the BORG students, who led the interested visitors through the classes and special education rooms in small groups. In the drawing and workshop room, the high school students’ artistic works were presented and insights into the subject matter, especially in the art branch, were offered. In the music hall, ensembles, school bands and individual instrumentalists impressively demonstrated how the musical talent of young people is encouraged at school. A radio show was produced in the music laboratory.

The scientific branch presented experiments that invited participation. In biology, fearless dissections were carried out, in chemistry copper coins were gold-plated and flame-dyeing experiments were carried out. High voltage prevailed in physics with a ribbon generator, confetti flew through the air and Swedish bombs grew endlessly in the vacuum. In computer science, you could not only discover exciting things about the digital world, but also see how games are programmed.

language skills

In addition to the three branches of the BORG Egg, the interested guests were also able to find out about the wide range of languages ​​offered by the school, which includes compulsory English from school entry and optionally French, Spanish or Latin for four years. Pupils who are particularly interested in languages ​​can choose Italian as an optional subject from the 6th grade onwards. While the Cambridge certificate can be obtained in English, trips abroad in the 7th grade offer the opportunity to put the language skills learned to the test in practice.

acrobatics and dance

The fact that physical fitness is not neglected in addition to mental training could be experienced in the gymnasium, where the students delighted the audience with dances and an acrobatic gymnastics performance. Finally, Director Ariel Lang and student advisor Daniel Amann gave short presentations giving an insight into the school career and the many opportunities that school graduates with the general education they have acquired have in later life. The BORG Café in the foyer took care of the physical well-being, where the guests could chat over coffee and cake as well as lemonade and snacks. ME
