It was last year that Nascar driver Ross Chastain made headlines when he shocked the crowd with what many later came to call a straight TV game maneuver. Pulling his car along the inside of the guardrail, he not only produced the fastest lap ever in a Nascar car at Martinsville Speedway, but also snagged five places in the process. But don’t expect to see anyone like it again, because as of now, that type of maneuver is strictly prohibited within Nascar after the organization delved deep into the rulebook.

“Safety is a top priority for NASCAR and NEM (NASCAR Event Management). Therefore, any violations deemed to compromise the safety of an Event or otherwise pose a dangerous risk to the safety of Competitors, Officials, spectators, or others are treated with the highest degree of seriousness. Safety violations will be handled on a case-by-case basis”.

Maybe lucky, but we can’t deny that the whole event was incredibly awesome.

Do you think it makes sense to ban similar maneuvers in the future?

“I’m going to drive really damn fast and occasionally turn left”.
