News JVTech Need to change your iPhone battery? Hurry up to do it at Apple! here’s why

If you need to change the battery of your iPad, iPhone or MacBook through Apple’s after-sales service, it is strongly recommended to carry out this procedure before March 1: from this date, prices will increase.

Times are tough for everyone and inflation spares no one. It will not have escaped you, the prices of high-tech devices have increased in recent months : often, the bill has climbed by a few tens of euros, but it is sometimes enough to change the situation when it comes to going to the cash register to renew your equipment.

At Apple, this trend will be seen on the after-sales service side from March 1, 2023. The American company has just announced that the prices for changing the battery of its devices were going to increase once this deadline has arrived.

Replacing the battery in an Apple device will soon cost more

For a few days, if you perform a battery replacement simulation of an iPhone on Apple’s support siteyou may see the following message displayed:

“The current out-of-warranty battery service fee will apply until the end of February 2023. Effective March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will increase by €24 for all models of ‘iPhone before iPhone 14.

iPads are also affectedwith an announced increase of 40 euros for 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th generation and earlier), 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and earlier), 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad mini (6th generation and earlier) ) and iPad Air (5th generation and earlier). On the Mac side, the increase will be 36 euros for all models of MacBook Air, and 60 euros for MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

Very high price increases

Currently, replacing the battery of an iPhone 13 costs 75 euros and this price will therefore increase to 99 euros from March 1. For a 5th generation iPad Air, the price of a battery change will drop from 109 euros to 149 euros and for a MacBook Air M1, it will no longer cost 149 euros, but 185 euros. These are not even the highest prices that will be in effect from March 1: if you have a 16-inch MacBook Pro released in 2021, the price of changing the battery of the device will drop from 229 euros to 289 euros.

Apple does not give a specific explanation for these price increases, but there is little doubt that inflation has been there. However, the Cupertino company did not wait for the current economic crisis to increase the prices associated with changing the battery of its devices : in 2018, changing the battery of an iPhone only cost 29 euros. A price that had risen to 49 euros on January 1, 2019, then to 69 euros six months later… Enough to cool potential buyers of a device from the apple brand.
