However, Oliver Jäger was not the one who came up with the idea for the reestablishment of the Borussia brewery. the trademark rights has Jan Henrik Gruszecki secured. Gruszecki is not only a hardcore BVB fan with an ultra past – he is also the maker of the BVB documentary “Born on Borsigplatz” about the founding years of the ball game club. While researching the film, he accidentally discovered that the trademark rights had not been assigned. He just had to hit it.
And here the circle closes: A few years ago, Gruszecki bought the Gründerzeit house at a foreclosure auction Oesterholzstrasse 60 in the north of Dortmund, where the brewery office is now also located. In this building not far from Borsigplatz was the Restaurant “Wildschütz” – where BVB was founded in 1909. The name “Borussia” came to the defiant Pöhler around Franz Jacobi very spontaneously: when looking at an advertising sign for the Borussia brewery.
