There was snow chaos in the Oslo area on Wednesday and on Thursday morning it is snowing heavily again in some places. Nevertheless, it appears that driving conditions are fine on the major roads, informs Vegtrafikksentralen öst.

– The plow trains have entered shuttle traffic and are doing everything they can to get it out of the way, so things are going well on the approach roads into Oslo. You have to calculate extra time, adjust your speed and drive according to the conditions, says traffic operator Tone Sorken to NTB.

– Be a little careful if you have to change lanes because there is some snow there. And if you get behind a plow train, you have to be patient, she says.

Among other things, there is heavy snow at the Skullerud dump, where there were major problems on Wednesday. It is also snowing towards Asker. East police district states that it looks fine on the roads south towards Østfold, but that it is a little more difficult further north. The Oslo police state that it has been a quiet night on the roads as few have been out driving.

– Keep a distance from the car in front so that you have the opportunity to stop if something should happen. It may look bare, but then it’s smooth. It will be a winter road today, says Sorken.

In Ringerike, the E16 is closed at Sundvollen after a collision between two cars.

Canceled buses

At least 27 of the bus routes in the Oslo area have been canceled on Thursday morning. All lines serve Oslo east and in Nittedal, write NRK.

The number of deviations and lines that are affected is constantly increasing, and travelers should therefore keep an eye on it Ruter’s overview of deviations.

– We update ruter.no and the Ruter app continuously, so check these if you absolutely have to travel today, says press officer at Ruter Øystein Dahl Johansen.

There are also delays and detours on a number of other bus lines. The subway and the train are not as affected, so Ruter asks people to choose that if they can.

– Those who have the opportunity are encouraged to have a home office, keep up to date, use the subway and consider whether you have to travel at all today, says Øystein Dahl Johansen.

The snowy weather also causes problems on the railway network.

On both the Gjøvik Line and the Kongsvinger Line, there are delays due to a lot of snow and ice on the switches. On the Hovedbanen, a fault on a switch at Hauerseter leads to delays.

In addition, Alnabru freight terminal is partially closed for the same reason.

Cleared the subway

Sporveien has had approximately 20 men out to clear snow from the subway lines on the night of Thursday

– For the most part, the snow is not a problem, but when it all comes at once it gets hectic, says Håkon Uggerud, who works in the track department at Sporveien, to NTB.

The crews have faced the biggest challenges on the Holmenkoll track. The machines have been clearing snow here since 3pm on Wednesday.

– There are always challenges there. It is about the fact that it is so steep and there are many sharp curves on the stretch, explains Uggerud.

The travelers on this route should basically have nothing to fear on Thursday.

– We will have two machines running there continuously throughout the day. Traffic must go as normal, also there.
