The seventh season of Celebrity Farm premiered this week, and viewers saw twelve excited and nervous celebrities take over Steinsjøen farm.

Now it is known that there will be more changes in the Farmen universe, namely a brand new dueling branch.

The new dueling discipline being introduced this season is something neither participants nor viewers have seen before – namely “barrel chess”.

Barrel chess should be an alternative to knowledge, which is then one of the few branches that is not physical. Last autumn it was confirmed that the controversial branch of tug-of-war was replaced by a new, and equally brutal, branch.

Barrel chess can be described as a mixture between chess and pawn chess.

Program editor at TV 2, Kathrine Haldorsen, confirms to TV2.no that she hopes to see the new dual sport in action this season.

– We always have a desire to renew our program concepts from season to season. Barrel chess as a new dueling discipline in “Farmen kjendis” is an example of such a change in an established program concept. It will then be exciting to see if the second champion challenges Aleksander in this branch already on Sunday.

These are the rules of the game

The game board for barrel chess is divided into small squares, which can then resemble a chessboard.

A barrel is moved one space at a time: forward, backward, sideways or vertically. The exception is if you jump over your own or your opponent’s barrels.

You can jump over one barrel at a time, but can make multiple jumps in one move.

In addition to the barrels, each participant also has a milk pail. It can be used to wreak havoc on the opponent. This is placed in any free square, and it is not allowed to jump over your own or the opponent’s milk pail.

Before each turn, the first or second champion must first move the milk pail and then a barrel.

The first man with all four of his barrels over the line on the opposite side wins the duel.

It remains to be seen whether any of this year’s participants choose the mentally challenging branch. Barrel chess requires the ability to keep a cool head, but also to keep track of one’s own barrels and milk pails – at the same time as the opponent’s.

You can see Farmen kendis on Tuesdays at 21:40, and on Wednesdays and Sundays at 20 on TV 2 Direkte, and whenever you want on TV 2 Play.
