One of the last protests in La Plata

The social and political organization Libres del Sur will go to different hypermarkets today, including some in La Plata, the City of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires suburbs, where they will request bags of food for the year-end holidays, according to spokespersons for the sector.

“Given the difficulties and shortages in food deliveries by (the Ministry of) Social Development, we resorted to supermarkets and municipalities to alleviate a very distressing situation,” said Silvia Saravia, national Territorial coordinator of Libres del Sur.

The protesters of the opposition organization, a member of the Piquetera Unit (UP), will mobilize today from 11 o’clock in shops in our city in the area of 520 and 25, and also 7 and 48. Also at a hypermarket on Avenida Hipólito Yrigoyen 13,500 , in Almirante Brown, and another on Rivadavia and Bernardo de Irigoyen avenues, in downtown Buenos Aires.

“A few days ago we delivered requests that were never answered. And there were no responses from municipalities that have received extraordinary financial resources for the provision of food. That is why we will mobilize again demanding answers,” Saravia explained.

Likewise, the social leader considered that “in this difficult context of economic adjustment, the big price makers saw their profits guaranteed” and pointed in particular to supermarkets.
