After downloading and installing the new patch, the PlayStation 5 software will be version number 22.02-06.50.00. Apart from the mentioned support for Sony’s new “Pro-Controller” and the typical tips for increasing the system’s performance, the update does not bring any further innovations. The DualSense Edge wireless controller will be available exclusively through the PlayStation Direct shop on January 26, 2023 deliveredbefore other retailers are allowed to offer it from February 23.
Anyone who is flirting with the new gamepad must currently plan for the recommended retail price (RRP) of 239.99 euros. Similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Elite controller, the DualSense Edge offers configurable back buttons, interchangeable stick caps and even completely interchangeable analog stick modules. Matching accessories are included in the scope of delivery.
Future with Discord & Game Streaming
Regarding the PS5 firmware, more features should follow with the 7.0 update. Rumors predict, among other things, the long-awaited Discord integration. Sony is also said to be working on completing game streaming for PlayStation 5 games via PlayStation Plus (formerly PlayStation Now). A feature that most likely requires a premium membership. Distribution is expected in March 2023. A beta version could appear as early as this month.
Notice: More than two years after its release, the PlayStation 5 is still struggling with delivery problems. However, online retailers such as Media Markt and Saturn offer the option of pre-ordering with delivery from January 31, 2023.
