Newcastle United appear to be looking to their Premier League rivals for reinforcements. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher (22), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (26) and Hakim Ziyech (29) and Manchester United’s Scott McTominay (26) are all targeted by the Magpies. According to the daily, Newcastle have been dealing with Gallagher for several transfer periods.
Chief scout Steve Nickson in particular is a fan of the 22-year-old, who according to ‘Sky Sports’ is also interested in former club Crystal Palace. The catch: The Blues don’t want to part ways with Gallagher. Loftus-Cheek is also not for sale. Ziyech, on the other hand, is allowed to leave the club.
At McTominay the situation is a bit different. The ‘Telegraph’ report that Newcastle would submit an offer for the Scot should United show a willingness to part ways with the defensive midfielder. The player himself would be open to a move to St. James’ Park.
Anticipation of the summer budget
According to the report, Newcastle only want to bring players on board in January who would have been on the transfer list in the summer. In addition, manager Eddie Howe has been informed that all expenses incurred by the club in the current transfer period will be deducted from the available summer budget.
