VALENCIA.- The son of former opposition mayor and political prisoner Enzo Scarano, Vicente Scarano, was arrested on the night of August 2. Police officers arrived at the residence and proceeded to arrest. His father is missing.
The incident occurred in the city of Valencia, Carabobo state, a town where both father and son are actively involved in politics against the Maduro dictatorship, which, supported by the National Electoral Council, has committed fraud to remain in power.
The CNE, without counting all the votes and after violating the electoral law that states that the results must be known within a maximum of 48 hours, credits dictator Nicolás Maduro as the winner with more than 50% of the votes. However, the opposition has different data that shows Edmundo González Urrutia as the winner with 67% support. The CNE’s inconsistency was denounced by the Carter Center, which said it could not endorse democracy currently in Venezuela. Seven countries already recognize the opposition as the president-elect.
The news of the disappearance of both men is circulating on social media, demanding both the appearance of Enzo Scarano and the immediate release of his son.
Enzo Scarano was mayor of the municipality of San Diego, in the same state, on two occasions (2004 and 2008). In 2014, Scarano was arrested by the regime accused of promoting massive protests in favor of freedom.
Vicente Scarano is a member of the Carabobo Municipal Legislative Council and General Coordinator of the San Diego Mayor’s Office.
Both promoted the vote in favor of the now elected president, Edmundo González Urrutia.
Arrests and disappearances on the rise in Venezuela
The NGO Foro Penal Balance provided an overview of the arrests and disappearances that occurred in Venezuela following the protests generated by the electoral fraud in the country.
The figure indicates that there are at least 835 arrests (79 adolescents) and 11 murders.
