The secret is out: the movie stars will soon be seen together on the screen – and the joy is huge.
Los Angeles – Top-class cast for a TV series about the novel heroine Kay Scarpetta: Nicole Kidman (55, “The Hours”) and Jamie Lee Curtis (64, “Halloween Ends”) are to take part as actresses and producers in the Amazon Studios project , as the industry journal “Deadline.com” reported.
The planned crime series based on the novel by US bestselling author Patricia Cornwell (66) revolves around coroner Kay Scarpetta, who investigates sensitive cases as a star pathologist.
Cornwall: “We’ve waited 33 years for this”
Oscar winner Kidman is set to play the title role, with Curtis set to play the pathologist’s sister. In addition, the two will also be jointly responsible for the production. The secret is out now, Curtis wrote yesterday on Instagram and linked the article. She can’t wait for fans to meet Scarpetta.
Cornwell also shared the news. “We’ve waited 33 years for this,” the crime writer wrote on Instagram. With “Postmortem” she published the first of 26 novels about the cases of the pathologist in 1990, most recently “Livid” (2022).
There were already plans for a film adaptation
Earlier film plans, for example in the 1990s with Demi Moore or later with Angelina Jolie as Kay Scarpetta, had not materialized, as “Deadline.com” reported.
Curtis was recently nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in the sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once. Kidman has had a number of TV credits, including Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. dpa
