Nikki Haley announces she will vote for Trump to secure the border

COLUMBIA — Nikki Haley He said Wednesday that he will vote for Donald Trump in the general election, and encouraged the presumptive Republican presidential candidate to work hard to gain the support of those who supported her in the primary election.

“I will vote for Trump,” Haley, the former US ambassador to the UN, said at an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington.

“I put my priorities on a president who supports our allies and holds our enemies accountable, who ensures frontera -no more excuses-, a president who supports capitalism and freedom,” he said at a meeting of conservative leaders.

“Trump has not been perfect on these issues. I made it clear many times. But (Democrat Joe) Biden has been a catastrophe, that’s why I will vote for Trump,” he stressed.

Border crisis

Border security has become the main issue in next November’s elections due to the immigration chaos since Biden’s arrival at the White House.

Millions of immigrants have arrived at border crossings during the Democratic administration, reflecting that the United States border is more insecure than ever. The total of irregular income from 2021 until last April is 9,905,422. The figure does not include those who have managed to escape from the authorities.

The number of migrants who have managed to escape from federal authorities at the border has skyrocketed in the last three years. The total is estimated at 1,664,203. Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Chris Olivarez said the numbers recorded over the past three years are unprecedented and concerning.

“The data is irrefutable and reflects the serious implications for public safety and national security,” he said.

Win over voters

But Haley also made clear that she thinks Trump must work to win over voters who supported her during the primary campaign and who voted for her in subsequent primaries.

“Having said that, I stand by what I said in my withdrawal speech,” Haley added. “Trump will do well to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they will simply go away with him. And I genuinely hope he does.”

Haley abandoned her bid for the Republican nomination two months ago, but did not immediately endorse Trump. Both were harshly criticized during the primary election.

The 52-year-old former South Carolina governor is popular among moderate and independent Republican voters.

This announcement could well reshuffle the cards among the vice presidential candidates in the Republican campaign, even though Trump recently said he was not considering Haley for that position.
