The Nio Day 2022held a few days before the end of the year, was the right occasion to unveil the new SUV of the Chinese house: it’s called Nio EC7 and derives from the ES7 model which has already made its market debut – he promises more than 900 km of autonomy with a single charge thanks to one of the largest lithium-ion batteries seen so far on the consumer market, ben 150 kWh.

Nio EC7 is a SUV coupe designed with a line that is highly appreciated by the market today: while remaining an imposing car – almost 5 meters long with a wheelbase that is close to 3 meters – the rear of the car gives a sensation of dynamism and speed, the latter further supported by 2 electric motors that deliver everything well 653 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. Such a powertrain configuration will result, according to Nio, in a sprint from 0 to 100 covered in just 3.8 seconds.

Despite the important autonomy of which the new Nio EC7 is capable, the Chinese House has made its new model compatible with the system Power Swap Stations: this means that, by visiting one of the charging stations that Nio has spread almost everywhere in China, it will be possible to have the flat battery replaced with a charged one in a few minutes thanks to a completely automated process. Recently, the first of these stations made its debut much closer to us, in Germany, after the first successful experiments in the Scandinavian countries where the diffusion of electric cars was very rapid. As for the classic charging station, Nio is working to make its EC7 compatible with charging at 500 kW of power, a hitherto unexplored threshold at least on the car market: it will be interesting to see if the Chinese giant will be able to bring this functionality, even if the cases in which it will really be necessary to recharge with such a high power will be very rare.

Nio Day 2022 ended with the debut of the second generation of the SUV ES8; also in this case we are faced with a 100% electric vehicle capable of accommodating up to 6 passengers. The platform on which it is based is the same on which EC7 was built, but in this case the battery should stop at 100 kWh in its largest cut.
