In the early 2000s, no one could get past the No Angels. The breakup of the successful girl group has pulled the rug out from under the feet of singer Nadja Benaissa.

Berlin – In 2001, many people sang along to verses of the No Angels’ “Daylight in Your Eyes”. The girl group emerged from the first season of “Popstars”. In retrospect, “No Angels” Nadja Benaissa (40) was “overwhelmed with her life” at the time, as she said in a conversation with zeit.de says.

Screaming crowds in front of the stage, fans who accompanied their stars to the apartment, what many find difficult to understand was reality for the No Angels. “Sometimes the fans surrounded me so much that I really panicked,” says Nadja Benaissa Time. So many things happened at the same time that the feelings were difficult to process. Their escape: alcohol and drugs.

She didn’t process anything during this time, but alcohol and drugs helped “to cope somehow”. In her mid-30s, Nadja Benaissa realized that she couldn’t go on. After the No Angels split and her conviction, her life is “down from a hundred to zero.” With the withdrawal of music and sports, she tried to punish herself.

What helped Nadja Benaissa was the understanding that getting help is the right thing to do. This made her realize that the sore spots weren’t as big as she thought. Today she is good at dealing with difficult situations, on the phone with friends or at thinking about what she can be thankful for.

In this context, it can make sense to write these things down. For Nadja Benaissa, the thought that there is something bigger than your own ego also counts. So pray to God and show humility. But none of this is a sure-fire success: “Spirituality is like sport: you have to overcome yourself and train.”

Benaissa is said to have come into contact with drugs as a teenager. As an adult, it seems that she has managed to break free from addiction. In 2021, the No Angels celebrated their comeback: Nadja Benaissa is back on stage with Sandy Mölling, Lucy Diakovska and Jessica Wahls. Vanessa Petruo is now a PhD psychologist.
