DREAMS

Do people born blind have visual dreams?

A. Some experts argue that people who are born blind do not see visual content in their dreams, just as they do not see anything visual while awake. Others, however, apply to differ.

People with congenital blindness experience less eye movement during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep than their sighted counterparts. Since most complex dreams occur during REM sleep and eye movements are hypothesized to correlate with visual dream content, this could suggest that people with congenital blindness do not experience visual content while dreaming.

INVEST IN YOURSELF

One of the buzz phrases is “invest in yourself”, and how can you practically do more of what you already do?

A. The basis of this fashion advice and the so-called “life coaches” is that you should never stop investing in yourself because this is the most important thing you can do. Being their priority is not selfish; it’s actually the most important thing you can do, because you can’t pour from an empty glass. Every investment you make in yourself today will pay dividends for years to come.

How can you invest in yourself now, as you ask? The concrete steps that are recommended are the following:

Learn a new skill. The more you learn, the more you earn.

Buy a book on a topic that fascinates you. Everything you could ever want to learn has been written. You can spend $200 pesos on a book to acquire a lifetime of knowledge.

Spend money on your health. Always spend the money on better eating and the best physical training you can get. You want to make sure you are physically and mentally prepared for whatever life throws your way.

Take someone out for coffee or lunch. You can learn something from someone who is a few steps ahead of you by offering to take them out to lunch.

Attend an event or conference in your field. They say your network is your net worth. He wants to do what he can to avoid those who are already where he wants to be one day.

THE WATER/FERNANDA GAY

Is the water that we humans can consume and use finite?

A. We can only use a small fraction of the Earth’s water. Let’s remember when we were taught in school that most (specifically, 71%) of the planet’s surface is covered in water. While that is true, humans can only use 0.007% of that water, according to National Geographic. That’s because about 2.5% of Earth’s water is fresh, and only 1% of it is accessible. The rest form glaciers and snowfields. In short, yes, accessible water is finite.

That is why companies like Nestlé and Coca Cola, among others, buy rights, use, bottle and sell us our plastic bottled water that contaminates our life, our Earth. All of us who buy single-use plastic bottled products contribute to this crime against humanity.

LIMES AND LEMONS

The other day, while I was preparing some fruits for aguas frescas and a piñata, I dropped the lemons and limes in the bucket of water, and oh, surprise! The limes fell down and the lemons floated. What is it due to, were the files broken?

A. No, don’t worry, since limes are denser than lemons, they fall to the bottom of a container, while lemons float to the top.
