HORSES OR HUMANS

Here with a friend we have a bet, who jumps further, a horse or a human?

R. I share with you that the Olympic world record for the longest human long jump is greater than the world record for the longest long jump on horseback. Mike Powell set the record in 1991 by jumping 8.95 meters, and the horse Extra Dry set the record in 1900 by jumping 6.10 meters.

PETROLEUM INFINITE

Could it be that the oil supply seems to be infinite? We consume and consume, we take and take out of the Earth and there are still millions of barrels a day.

A. No, the oil supply is not infinite. Oil is a finite resource, which means that it is a limited amount that will eventually be used. It is a non-renewable resource, which means that it cannot be replaced once it is depleted. The amount of oil left in the world is unknown, but it is believed that most of the world’s oil reserves have yet to be extracted. As the demand for oil continues to rise, the supply is likely to become tighter over time.

THE MAYANS

How does the Mayan Calendar work that the descendants of this race still use?

A. It has not been easy to explain yet by many studies and no one knew how to understand the complex Mayan timing system for hundreds of years: most of the Mayan cities were abandoned around 900 AD. C., for reasons that historians are still debating, and civilization went into a mysterious decline. But at the end of the 19th century, things began to change when Ernst Forstemann, a librarian at the Royal Library in Dresden, Germany, began to investigate one of the most important documents of pre-Columbian civilization. known as the Dresden Codex, is one of the oldest surviving books written in the Americas, dating to around AD 1200. C., and is full of Mayan hieroglyphs. Through his analysis, Forstemann discovered the inner workings of the three Mayan calendars, and that the date 4 Ahau 8 Cumku, as found in the Calendar Round, was actually the beginning of the Long Count calendar. Over the next century, scholars continued to decipher the intricate calendar and language of the Maya, revealing a complex people of great cultural and scientific sophistication.

THE ANXIA

Mr. La Mont, help me with some advice, how can anxiety be reduced? There are times, both at home and at work, that I can’t do anything because I want to water it. How do you see it?

R. I “see” it with a solution. Most experts agree that anxiety disorders can be treated.

Dr. Laura Schrader, an expert in neurobiology at Tulane University in the US says: “If an individual can understand the stressors that trigger anxiety in their lives and how to manage them, anxiety levels can be reduced. Exercise and meditation are common ways to deal with anxiety. Also, if a person is relieved of that stressor, meaning retirement from a job, anxiety levels go down.” Dr Edwin de Beurs, an expert in psychology and mental health at Leiden University in the Netherlands, says that “anxiety disorders are treatable and recovery rates, for example, after cognitive behavioral therapy (psychological treatment with the best empirical support) are substantial. However, high anxiety sensitivity (the tendency to become anxious easily or quickly) is a fairly stable trait and a risk factor for developing clinical anxiety or an anxiety disorder.”
