The government has reviewed the scale for awarding the ecological bonus in the event of the acquisition of an electric car. The new terms exclude Tesla-branded vehicles.
Two years ago, you could buy a Tesla Model 3 for 36,800 €, ecological bonus deducted. Today, the same vehicle is billed at €53,590 and no longer receives any state aid. The government has reviewed its allocation scale, and the new conditionsin place since January 1, 2023, make all vehicles of the brand ineligible – even the cheapest.
As we can see on the dedicated official page, the government has decided to simplify the ecological bonus. From now on, only 100% electric cars under €47,000 and weighing less than 2.4 tonnes are concerned. In 2022, we could still benefit from a little boost for plug-in hybrid cars (€1,000). In addition, the amount of the bonus is down: it goes from 6,000 to 5,000 € (6,000 € for a van).
Towards a drop in the price of the cheapest Tesla cars?
The government has therefore decided to put an end to the levels of the ecological bonus, which once made it possible to receive €6,000 for a car billed under €47,000, or €2,000 if the sum was between €47,000 and €60,000. . It is this second level to which those interested in a Tesla car could claim.

Will Tesla lower the price of its most affordable cars to below €47,000? It is quite possible, given the versatility of the price list of the American manufacturer. This is especially true for the Model Y, today offered from €49,990 in the rear-wheel drive version. It would be enough for Tesla to cut back a little on its margin for the SUV to be at 47,000 € and become hyper attractive once the bonus of 5,000 € has been deducted (42,000 €). If the company suddenly needs to make volume, it is a lever that he can activate. It will be more complicated, however, for the Model 3, which has experienced very high inflation in recent months.
Note that people with a low income — less than €14,089 per share — benefit from a bonus increased to €7,000 (5,000 + €2,000). Finally, the government imposes a limit on use: you can only request one bonus per three-year period.
