It was in the summer of 2021 that NRK bought the house that would later be known as LL35. The detached house on Ljan in Oslo was central to the state channel’s gaming/reality TV venture, which was first announced last year, but not everything has gone quite according to plan.

The gaming house is said to be water damaged, and NRK is going to court to recover some of the purchase price of NOK 16 million.

Requires just under a million

As The daily newspaper The reporter is asking NRK for NOK 915,582 in compensation from the house’s former owner, Knut Wisting, and the company Anticimix Forsikring. The latter must have been responsible for the change of ownership insurance linked to the sale of the house.

– It concerns two water damages, which our contractor discovered and initiated remedial work in walls and at other points in the house. Hence the compensation claim, explained technical project manager Geir Børdalen.

Neither Wisting nor Anticimex shall be further concerned about the matter. In a statement to Dagbladet, Wisting describes the situation as “ridiculous”, and believes that everything was in order when NRK took over the house.

– I think this is poorly done by NRK. The fact that they bother to keep doing this seems silly to me. […] When I handed the building over to NRK, everything was in order, the condition was checked on the bows and edges. […] There was a water leak there in its time, but it was repaired and a superstructure was built. NRK removed the superstructure, and the water leaks have come after that.

It was in September that NRK first confirmed the lawsuit (via VG). The case will be heard in the Oslo District Court on 25 January, and three days have been set aside for processing the claim.

Has invested 40 million

Since the launch of LL35 last year, the house has been home to several so-called “streamers”. These can be followed every day, as they play games, cook, exercise and juggle other activities.

So far, NRK has invested 40 million in the extensive investment. Of these, house purchases and renovations account for half, while 10 million have agreed to the technical purchase of TV equipment. The remaining 10 million is an annual expense for running the whole thing.

NRK tells Dagbladet that viewers spend a total of around 50,000 hours a week watching LL35 on Twitch or via NRK.
