Fans of the Disney parks are ready to do anything to keep the memory of their favorite attractions alive… but also to make money in sometimes surprising ways. The proof, with this astonishing situation that arose following the closure of an attraction in Florida.

While Disneyland Paris is wildly successful in Europe, where the park is quite simply one of the most visited tourist spots, the phenomenon is also well known to Americans. In the United States, two groups of Disney parks coexist: Disneyland Resort located in Anaheim, California, and Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It is in this park that30-year-old attraction just closed.

This attraction is Splash Mountaina “log” based on the animated scenes of the film Southern Melody. Yet much appreciated by visitors, it has just been started and will soon be back in a brand new version. The reason ? Southern Melodya film released in the 1960s, takes place in the cotton fields of the southern United States after the Civil War and is today accused of conveying racist ideas. Disney has notably chosen not to broadcast it on its Disney+ platform: in this logic, changing the theme of its attraction is consistent.

Disney World is closing an attraction, visitors have a surprising reaction

The attraction remains popular at Disney World, not only for its theme, but also for the sensations it provides. It should also be noted that repeat visitors had known it for 30 years, so it is associated with a certain nostalgia: this is the reason why it was taken by storm during its last day of activity.

But unscrupulous visitors have also seen in their last walk in the log the opportunity to make money, or at least to try. Some of them did not hesitate to bend down to recover a few centiliters of water from the attraction in a bottle, with the aim of putting it on sale on the Internet.

Yes, you read correctly : the attraction’s dirty water, sold in a pot or a bottle for a few fistfuls of dollars on eBay. The most surprising thing is that some auctions seem to have found takers. Some vendors, who have dedicated put their pot on sale for several tens of dollarshowever, seem to be struggling to find a buyer… Surprising!

Splash Mountain is under construction and will be back

We can be surprised at the ability that some fans have to try to make money on anything and everything. Especially since if Splash Mountain is currently closed at Disney World, the attraction will indeed be back after work. It will benefit from a new theme, that of The Princess and the Frog, in the years to come. Moreover, the attraction still exists at Disneyland Resort in California, at least for now: so there is no reason to buy a dirty water bottle on eBay. Really none!
