An octogenarian was run over to death at about 7:33 p.m. this Sunday on highway #1 in front of the El Ferrocarril business in Santa Isabel.
The man was identified by his relatives as Gilberto Ortiz Viera, 81 years old. According to what they told Telenoticias, he used to walk through that area because he visited his son who lives in a nearby neighborhood.
A red Dodge Ram bus was involved and the driver remained on the scene. Apparently, he did not see him and would have tried to help him, but the man died instantly.
