A National Park Service truck slammed into a guardrail Wednesday night, leaving the car dangling over the Potomac River in southwest DC, authorities said.

The car crashed at Ohio Drive and Buckeye Drive in East Potomac Park around 8 p.m. according to the DC Fire and Emergency Department.

The driver was able to get out under his own power and was not injured.

Rescue teams towed the partially submerged white van to dry land.

The cause of the accident was not immediately released.
