In France, not a month of Ramadan passes without an episode of arm wrestling between coaches and players of the Muslim faith. This is obviously the Ramadan trend in Ligue 1 every season.

Indeed, while the affair of the Nantes coach, Antoine Kombouaré, and the Algerian international, Jaouen Hadjam, has barely known its outcome, the French daily, Nice Matin, reveals another affair because of the fasting ban that French Ligue 1 coaches impose.

Thus, according to Nice Matin, it is a clash between the former coach of OGC Nice, Christophe Galtier and the Nice defender, Jean-Clair Todibo.

Of Muslim faith, the former defender of FC Barcelona had not shown the same opinion as his coach at the time and swept away, with the back of his hand, the request of the French technician not to fast. Nice Matin indicates that Todibo threw a cone during a training session to express his dissatisfaction with the situation he was experiencing.

According to the same source, current Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtierdid indeed ask its Muslim players to ignore the month of Ramadan and not to fast. A request that was not to the taste of Todibo and, the Algerian international, Hichem Boudaoui.

Indeed, the Nice Matin daily affirmed that the Fennec did not hear with the same ear the opinion of his trainer about fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and refused, in turn, to ignore the Ramadan under the orders of Christophe Galtier.

OGC Nice: Ramadan precipitated the departure of Galtier from the Nice bench?

During the summer Mercato of 2022, the football planet discovered the new coach of the club which has given itself the means of its dreams, Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the new face of the Parisian technical edge surprised several specialists. While everything seemed to be going for the best at OGC Nice, the Frenchman Christophe Galtier took the reins of PSG in an atmosphere of total incomprehension.

However, with the revelation of the daily, Nice Matin, we can hold snippets of response. In its issue of the day, Nice Matin indicated that because of the Ramadan episode at OGC Nice, the towel was burning between the club’s former sports director, Julien Fournier, and Christophe Galtier.

According to the newspaper l’Équipe, Fournier did not appreciate the way Galtier managed the month of Ramadan. This would be one of the main reasons for the premature divorce between OGC Nice and Galtier because the latter simply no longer enjoyed the confidence of his players.

“Very honestly, if I explain the real reasons why we argued, because that’s really the word, Christophe will no longer enter a locker room, neither in France nor in Europe” says Fournier about Galtier on the waves of RMC. The former Nice leader preferred not to reveal more details, believing “that these were serious things”, he adds.
