The Consumer Ombudsman’s Office continues to carry out inspections that avoid affecting the pocket of Salvadoran families, in the same way it executes actions that protect health, in various situations such as bird flu, a disease of which cases have already been registered in neighboring countries such as Guatemala and Honduras.
In this sense, part of the preventive plan that is being implemented included the verification carried out this Tuesday by the president of the Consumer Ombudsman, Ricardo Salazar, who traveled to Grupo Bolher, SA de CV, an egg distribution company, located in the Atlacatl neighborhood, in San Salvador, where it verified prices and inventories.
“Our teams carry out the price verification procedures and also the review of the respective documentation to establish if there is an abusive practice, related to the price increase”, said the official.
This action seeks to prevent abusive practices to the detriment of consumers, such as the unjustified increase in the prices of poultry products. To this end, the Government of President Bukele, through the Ombudsman, has redoubled its efforts and continues to monitor the different agents in the supply chain.
Farms, distributors and final points of sale are inspected by the technical teams, with the purpose of monitoring this market and guaranteeing affordable prices for the population and their stability, in order to stop any speculative effect generated by the appearance of the bird flu in the region.
“We have a good supply of eggs, we are a country that is strictly supplied with its national production”, Salazar said.
Likewise, this monitoring allows the population to know the establishments that are offering the most affordable prices. The inspections have yielded positive results, since significant decreases have been reported and the speculative that had been recorded in recent days has stopped.
