A new fraud case has broken out in the wilaya of Oran. The public prosecutor at the court of Yaghmourassen, in the same wilaya, ordered the temporary detention of a fake doctor who practiced as a herbalist.
According to information reported by the Arabic media Ennahar Online, the public prosecutor at the court of Yaghmourassen (wilaya of Oran) instructed the provisional detention of a false doctor pretending to be a herbalist. The latter practiced medicine without qualification, while it is a profession legally regulated by public authority.
The instruction of the public prosecutor intervenes in accordance with the measures of immediate appearance. Moreover, justice is prosecuting the respondent in the context of this case for “use of a title relating to a legally regulated profession and for which the public authority has determined the conditions of attribution”. But also, for “fraud aimed at the public”, as well as “the presentation and sale of expired medical products”.

In addition, the same source indicated that this affair broke out after an operation to check the shop of the respondent by the Health, Hygiene and Environmental Protection Committee of the wilaya of Oran. And this, in coordination with the Police of the wilaya of Oran, the Consumer Protection Organization, an inspector from the Directorate of Civil Protection as well as inspectors from the Directorates of Commerce and a sworn doctor from the Directorate of health.
Thus, the operation lifted the veil on numerous transgressions of the presumed herbalist owner of the premises constituting a threat to public health. Indeed, the latter practiced, among other things, “Hijama”, Chinese acupuncture, “Roqya” and relaxing massage. But also, he sold oils and medicinal herbs without qualifications. In addition, the operation resulted in the seizure of medical equipment and medical tools used in surgery, as well as drugs and expired products.
